Hi Heather,

I think that is great that you have someone that close by that you can "compare notes with". I think it really does make a difference, especially when you are new to this, to see that our kids are just like all the other kids, wonderful!!!!! I have 3 boys. My youngest has SVCAH and the one I am expecting for the end of Nov has SV CAH as well.

I have to tell all you guys though, you need to move to Houston. Just by coincidence I was at my boys regular pediatrician and I saw this beautiful little blonde girl running around. I started talking to the mom and one thing led to another. She asked if my little one was sick and I told her how paranoid I was about him getting sick because he had this adrenal problem and she looked and me and said that her daughter did too. Come to find out it was CAH. She practically hugged me and I was equally happy to meet her.  We  are not good friends and she lives about a mile away.

Another time it just so happened that my kids babysitter, who lives next door, invited us to their pool so my older boys could play with some kids she was babysitting (which were kids of a friend of one of my friends). Anyway, the babysitter mentioned that the older girl who was about 12 took a medication every day and it looked like my son’s. So when the girl swam over to me I asked her and she said that she did take a medicine and it was for her CAH!! I almost fell out of my chair. How weird to meet her like this. I, in disbelief, said to her that CAH is what my little guys had and she looked at him and said, "Oh, cool" and then jumped back into the pool! My babysitter was shocked too because I had told her how rare this was and here she had two kids that she babysat for that had the exact same thing!!

Anyway, my point is that it is a small world and just when we feel alone and like we are the only ones dealing with this, we realize that we are not alone and that our kids will be just fine!!
