Hi Heather,

I have a lot of the same symptoms as your sister. I started developing hair on my limbs, face, and line from my belly button to my pubic hair when I was about 19 years old. I menstrated late (age 16) and have irregular, painful periods.  It took my husband and I 2 and 1/2 years to conceive and keep the baby (I had a miscarriage after trying for about a year).  I now have a beautiful daughter who is 3 years old and she was diagnosed with Non Classical CAH last Oct.

I also struggle with anxiety a lot, too.  I am in the process of waiting to be seen by a doctor to get my 17 OHP, androstendione, testosterone and free testosterone done. I found out recently also that I have an enlarged thyroid.

Please feel free to email me if you would like to talk further. I know through CARESfoundation, your sister may be able to find a good doctor in your area to help get the correct tests done.

I had a horrible pregnancy and almost didn’t make it due to developing preeclampsia. I don’t know if there is any correlation between CAH and preeclampsia (most doctors will say no), but I have my doubts. I was also supplemented with progesterone for my first 14 weeks of pregnancy to help with my hormonal abnormalities.

Hope that helps....
