eileenKUDOS to you Kaye!!! and your DH. I loved the article. Years ago when 20/20 did their segment on CAH, my DD was about 2, and I chose to be on the episode because I felt so strongly that people should be educated on CAH. I weighed the pros and cons of appearing and how the boy/girl issue would effect her, but I knew how I was going to raise her and educate her about her condition.
She is now 12 years old. Is totally aware/educated on her condition. She has no issues about the boy/girl thing, and has never been treated poorly because of it. Mind you, when explaining CAH to someone..I do not start with saying that we weren’t sure if she was a boy or girl..that is not as important in that this condition is life threatening..THAT is the main part. But I know in this day and age, that the media zones in on that aspect...like in your article and also in the 20/20..but it made people watch and say Hey..I never knew that this condition existed....maybe I should question the Dr. about XYZ (as in the late onset aspects.)
A job well done to you...and Lifetime.
