arianeDear Heather,
My point of view may not be very relevant for you because I am french and live in France, so I have no real idea about how you health system works in the USA.
What I can tell you is that in France, we are told to take our children, in case of adrenal crisis, to the nearest hospital, never mind if your endo is not there.
What is important is to always have with you a letter of your endo explaining exactly what to do, which medics to give and their dosage, in case of emergency. Once I went to another hospital than the one of my endo : I realized that doctors were very glad to have the letter (maybe they would not have known exactly what to do without it !). But the problem is that when doctors do not know the disease well, they don’t want to take any risk and they won’t hesitate to do as many shots as they think necessary !!!
But I think in such a case, it is better to do more than not enough !
I also always have with me the two medics doctors have to give in case of adrenal crisis : the cortef for shots and the "syncortil" (I don’t know how you call it in the USA) because the last hospital I went to had no syncortil in its pharmacy !!!
Don’t hesitate to ask me any other question if you want to
Bye
