RistyIt’s good you’re going there. Do you live in the area? Is it for a second opinion or are you planning to stick with her? Dr New is really wonderful and I strongly feel it’s very much worth it even only to hear what she has to has to say. Originally I also went only for her opinion. I was satisfied with my first endo and thought he was great. Through her I found out that my baby was severely overdosed (5 times the required dose!) and that the first doctor fed me with allot of false information. Now she is even considering a possibility (according to his DNA) that my baby was mis diagnosed with a different form of the disease altogether.
What to expect - You’re baby will be seen by a resident doctor first. He will do the checkup, answer your questions and go over your babies records with you. Dr New is on top of everything (not necessarily in your presence) but will only see your baby for maybe five minutes. Although the system is good I wish someone would have mentioned it before I went.
They do blood work on the spot and also have their own lab. They might not do DNA if you really don’t want it but you’ll have to request that they shouldn’t do it before they even draw blood. They are very thorough in their testing (you should have realized it already from all the forms they make you fill out before the actual appt) and would do every possible test. I only found out that they did the DNA on my son after it was already done and also only because I asked the nurses to tell me what they tested for.
You have plenty of time. Feel free to ask as many questions as you can until Oct 1.
Good luck and hope you make the best out of it.
