Is it possible to have your son have a pill with him at all times? Maybe along with a medical note from the doctor? This way he has the control rather than the nurse or teacher. I know that they don’t allow children to self medicate in school, but in the event of a lock-down and the alternative without meds.... would they make an exception? Maybe this is something you could mention to the principal.

I would also talk with my endo about any suggestions on what to do.
