Thank you all for your responses.

Risty - No apology needed. As soon as I read your response, I realized that you didn’t really understand what I was asking. No problem.

Linda - No, in our school department and state, ABSOLUTELY no one can carry their own meds, under any circumstances! Never, ever! Thanks for your input.

Aimee - I get such a kick out of you. You are a "get ’em" kind of girl, much like myself! I read your posts with earnest because they are so "real". However, I think Kare has a point about the chaperone thing. I’m not quite sure how my 11 yr old SW-CAH son will feel about me chaperoning field trips in the upcoming years (I went on every single one through elementary school) but I know my 15 yr old daughter would just assume disown me if I even suggested chaperoning a field trip of hers! Ha! Ha! All kids are different and when they begin to understand that it is for their well-being, their attitudes can change. As far as the "appearances", I totally, totally, totally understand that. I mentioned once or twice before that when I was younger I had spinal fusion surgery for scoliosis and wore a body cast from my neck down to my pubic bones for 1  1/2 years -- children can be very, very cruel - intentionally or not - I am all for confidentiality, privacy and protection to avoid being labeled or stigmatized in any way. I could really rave on and on about this topic, but because this post really isn’t about that subject, I’ll be quiet now. My point= everyone knows their child best and what they can and cannot handle. The trick is as they grow older and start forming their own feelings and ideas about things truly determines how they will react to certain circumstances. That is when us parents grow right along with our children! Gosh, why isn’t their a book on ow to raise kids, under ALL circumstances so there would be a right or wrong???  Thanks Aimee - never, ever stop posting. Your remarks are so needed and welcomed.

Kare - You have given me some important info. Thank you so much. I am sorry that you have a dilemma with your school. I can appreciate your struggle. I did have some difficulty with the elementary school when he started kindergarten there 6 years ago. It basically took 2 years to straighten out! I emphathize with you. I was naturally quite anxious about starting that all over again with this new school, BUT, so far..so good! The nurse, up until 2-3 years ago was an ER nurse right here in my town, so she is quite experienced in emergencies etc. and has (along with the principal) been extremely open to my ideas etc. But, when the subject came up about lock-downs, we were both stumped and she told me it was a subject that not one other parent has brought up! Me? I’m always thinking, "what if..". So, hence, my post. Obviously, there are a lot of parents out there whom haven’t given this any consideration either since I didn’t receive many posts and none with EXACT facts. Thank you so much Kare! FYI, my 2 kids (15yr old daughter - non- CAH) are so different, sometimes I can’t believe that they are even related!! It is a ride, isn’t it? Thanks again---
