StephanieHello....I read this site often, but don’t post often! I learn tons from just reading! My husband and I have a 7 year old with CAH, and two non-affected boys ages 5 and 2. Our 7 year old takes both Cortef and Florinef. He has a "mild" case, as I have been told (no clue what that really means...the endo is even talking about taking him off all meds, gradually, to see how he does!). Anyway, he is an outstanding child...responsible, mature, friendly, well-liked, a leader, kind, smart! We are very proud, and adults often tell us what a remarkable child he is. The one thing we have noticed about him is that he is what my husband and I refer to as "weepy". Things that would frustrate or mildly upset an "average" child (like our other 2 sons and various 7 year old friends), sends him into tears. He seems OVERLY sensitive...to the point of frustration on our part, and embarassment on his. We thought initally this was a control issue, but it is clear that it is not something he can control. Do any of you out there experience this too? Could it be the side effects of the meds, too much or too little medication? Or is he just very sensitive, and we need to understand that that is part of him?
Also.....heat effects him immensly and makes the super sensitivity worse. He HATES to be outside in the heat, sweats like crazy, gets kinda "shakey" and real pale in the face! Is that common too? A little gatorade seems to solve the problem!
