Yes, heat is a problem with CAH.  You want to do your best to make sure he doesn’t get shakey.  Don’t wait until this happens to have him drink the gatorade. I even need to make sure my daughter (non-SW) gets enough salt and sugar when she is running a fever.

When does your son get his Cortef?

I ask because I used to think that my daughter just took a while to wake up in the mornings -- she would be cranky, crying, etc (she is now 4 1/2)

However, reciently (3 weeks ago) I changed her med schedule (after talking with the ped endo)

from  6 am 2.5 mg, 2 pm 2.5 mg, 10 pm 5 mg

to       12 noon 2.5 mg, 8 pm 2.5 mg, 3 am 5 mg

Even considering she is getting less sleep due to her 2 1/2 year old sister moving from a crib to bed (and having a hard time doing it), she hasn’t been crabby or crying in the mornings. It is significant enough that noticed and I will talk with the ped endo at the appointment next week.

FYI, I had several reasons to change the med schedule -- first in her new pre-school class the teachers can reliably give it at noon each day. And second I got rid of 2 bad times (10 pm meant I couldn’t go to bed early and 6 am meant I had to get up early) and exchanged them for 1 bad.

Best regards,

Janet
