CassyM,
I don’t have CAH, but my twin daughters do. However, I do have a lot of experience with the pill. When I was 12, I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts and had to go on the pill. I was on it (changing brands a few times) until I was 23 when we decided to try and get pregnant ( and we did). I did notice some side effects early on, but the pros highly outweighed the cons. Everything ran like clockwork, I wasn’t having cramps, no acne, etc. As far as the weight gain, ask your ob/gyn for a low dose estrogen pill, which don’t have those side effects as much. Now I take the Depo shot and don’t have any periods, which I think is great--but not everyone thinks so. You don’t have to worry about a daily dose, just every 10-12 weeks and I haven’t had weight gain with it. There is also the patch now that some use instead of the pill. Not sure what the side effects of it are. If your ob/gyn isn’t real up to date on other methods, I would consider changing docs bc there are so many options for regularity without a lot of side effects.
