Coming from a family where there is allot of severe allergies (and not only to peanut butter) I would probably be supportive to the policy and certainly wouldn’t oppose it. I still feel though, that this mother is strongly over doing things.  I have a sister who has the same degree of allergy to peanuts, turkey milk products and fish (almost died when she touched a toy that another child played with after eating a peanut butter sand which and had similar reactions when smelling turkey and fish) and another sister with very life threatening allergies to sesame seeds.  My mother never had the school to abandon these foods from their grounds and certainly not to check lunch boxes and hire trained nurses.  Of course the school knew that our children are allergic and what the EMS number is in case of an emergency, but that’s about it.  If that mother wants to keep her daughter in a peanut free environment I would suggest she should keep the child home.  Nothing will happen if she will not attend ’kindergarten’.  My sisters never go to sleep away camp or anywhere far from home because of their allergies.  They are the only ones in the class to stay home and they aren’t kindergarten kids anymore.  To my knowledge no school would rebuilt their campus only to accommodate one child who is wheelchair bound (besides if the family would donate the funds) but rather that child would find herself another school that would suit her medical condition.
