Hi!

I’ve been doing a bit of research on this lately. Docs seem to think that excessive androgen exposure can cause ovarian cysts. They also think that a sudden decline in adrenal adrogens can trigger an increase in gonadotropin levels, which could also trigger ovulation. All the articles I’ve read, tho, involve infants so I am not sure how this info would apply to a 10 year old. However, everyone does agree that more research needs to be done on this topic.

I’ve had cysts myself and they can be *very* painful! Sometimes they were short-lived (3-4 hrs) and othertimes the pain lasted a week. My doctor was nice and gave me the 800mg ibprofin for it.

Hope this helps- good luck with your daughter!
