stephanieI have a first grader! I spoke with the nurse about field trips just yesterday. She said she sends his meds in an envelope if he will not be on campus for his regualr dosing. I then asked about sending the injection or triple doses. She said she can’t send it because registered nurses do not attend field trips. She and I decided, that if for any reason, my son were ill enough to need the injection (loss of consiouness, broken limb etc) then EMS should be alerted immediatly, and they would have the meds on board. That is why my son wears his medic alert braclet, and why all the teachers know about his condition. The 5 minutes it would take for EMS to arrive would not be a life or death situation for him. It may be different for other children....I honestly don’t know!
BUT.....you can always attend a field trip...just not be responsible for a group of children..with a baby!
