After much consideration and talking it over with my husband we are going to ask the nurse and the teacher if we could use the walkie talkie system one of you suggested.  Thanks for the idea.  We have walkie talkies that work within a 2 mile radius so following the bus should be just fine unless they oppose, and then Savannah and I can have an outing at the zoo as well. 

We are not anticipating that anything bad will happen (Amanda’s post) : )  .  We’ve been to the zoo a hundred times before without incident.  We just need to make sure we follow the district guidelines and provide for Jake’s health and safety at the same time.  Since the parents and teachers can’t dispense meds and the nurse can’t leave the school, I can easily give his group mom the other walkie talkie and meet up with her at 2:00 to give his pill and make sure he’s drinking enough fluids.  Sounds like a winner of an idea.  I’ll just have to see if they agree.
