Actually, our first endo had my son on 8.5 mg 3 times daily of HC.  Dr New drastically reduced his dose to 2.5 mg 2 times a day at our first appointment with her and when she was convinced that he doesn’t have the form of CAH he was diagnosed with she stopped all treatment of HC and Florinoff at once.  But that’s not the issue.  If it’s dangerous it’s dangerous and maybe my son was just lucky that nothing serious happened to him.  I can understand that it’s totally unsafe to stop treatment with steroids completely at once but I wouldn’t think that its consequences in a person that doesn’t have CAH would also be an adrenal crisis.
