As an adult w/ SVCAH I encourage you to be as open and honest as is age appropriate for your child. I grew up in a family that did not talk about it (I was born in 57) and it has been a long road to healing for the whole family.Include siblings in the discussion-in discussions w/ my sister recently she always thought I was dying because it was never made clear why I was going to the hospital/Dr. so often,etc. I hope that helps.
