Is this mutation found mainly or only in people of Ashkenazi Jewish background?

I hope you don’t mind if I ask, I realize that you have a fortune of knowledge in genetics.  Where do you get all your information from?  Are you in the medical field or is it a personal interest that you have for genetics and it drives you to do so much research in this area?
