KristinHi Brenda:
Most of the behavioral aspects were about studies done between CAH and non-CAH siblings. Studies show that there aren’t many differences, although CAH females tend to play more with boy’s toys. Studies also show that CAH patients have normal or higher IQ’s but boys tend to test lower in spatial abilities. A lot of the parents had questions about mood swings and aggressiveness on the medicine. The doctor said that initial studies don’t show an increase in moodiness with CAH but most of the parents disagreed. The doctor said that they were planning on conducting more tests and gave some information for anyone who was interested in being a part of the study.
Kenny is only 3 but I feel he is very moody. For the most part he is a happy child but there are times when he just falls to pieces over nothing or gets very angry. I think it goes way beyond typical toddler behavior.
The diagnosis has been overwhelming but this board has been a lifesaver.
Take care and good luck to you.
Kristin
