kathyI am a 38 yr old female with hydroxylase 17 deficiency. I’ve been on cortisone since being diagnosed in 6th grade( around 1976). I have also been on estrogen that long as I was born without a uterus and ovaries.
Side effects I have experienced are weakend immune system, only notice when I get stomach flu and can’t stop throwing up so I have to go to emergency room and get an IV for a couple hours. This has happened about 5 times from what I can recall. I do get a flu shot every year and I can really tell a difference, when I get it. Some peopel think it make them sick but it’s a dead virus going into you so it CAN’T give you the flu! Also discoloration I’ve notice just the last couple years on my face during the summer, some patchy darker areas(forehead and upper lip on me) No it’s not hair either. Also I’ve just been put on Fosomax for awhile. I do not have osteoporosis as of yet. I have osteopenia, and they don’t want it to go any farther. I have eaten well and have been active in sports and working out all my life. They say wt. bearing exercises are good for that! I’ve been doing all that and drinking milk, taking Citrical, but it does catch up eventually. Just get a bone density test every year so you know where you’re at. My endo has said I always look in very good health and take great care of myself.
all for now, email me anytime and hope I have helped a little.
