I have two son’s with SW-CAH.  The youngest, 7 yrs old, has asthma and takes flovent and supplements with albuteral (spelling?) on "bad days"... which is rare these days.   He’s been taking these inhalants for about 2 years, but his asthma has been doing so well he’s now on a single "puff" per day.  So far, I haven’t seen any effect in his blood work as an apparent result of his asthma medications.  I don’t have any experience with Advair, so I’m afraid I’m in no position to help with that one.

I’m sure this is completely unrelated, but a friend of mine’s child had a similarly unexplained over-suppression last year, and it turned out that the pharmacy ran out of 5 mg Cortef tablets and replaced them with 10 mg tabs.  They made a note of it on the bottle (that they were to be split, and a half tablet was to be administered) but failed to tell the parents directly of the switch.  It wasn’t until over two weeks later that they caught on to the unexplained symptoms.  They blamed themselves as much as they did the pharmacist, but they were furious just the same (and who could blame them).  The incident scared me not only because it happened, but also because my pharmacist has replaced my kid’s 5 mg tabs with 10 mg on several occasion.  I like to think I’m religious about checking the labels, but thank god just the same he never failed to point it out… but every since then… I always assume it’s a bottle of poison until I check for myself that it’s valid.

Like I said, I’m sure this story has no place in this thread, but naturally, it’s impossible for me to not mention it whenever I hear of sudden over-suppression.
