K.H.,

You now have better knowledge as to how and what to do when your son is sick. This is empowering -- try not to be terrified.

When my daughter has had vomiting, she has always run a fever over 101 -- hard telling if the fever caused the vomiting or not. (But not all 101+ fevers result in vomiting, though this could be a timing thing) I will give her an injection because my experience is that waiting 30 minutes and giving her a stress dose by mouth will not work, it will be up within 10 minutes. As our endocrine nurse has repeatedly reinforced, we don’t want to wait for signs of crisis before we respond, we want to prevent signs of crisis.

Best regards,

Janet
