My son will be 3 in Febuary, and he always has a high fever when he is sick.  I always double his dose and give him tylenol or motrin and often stick him in the bath with warm water.  I watch him very closely.  I’ve only had to give the injection once with fever because he couldn’t keep anything down including his meds, and I was amazed at how fast he snapped back to his self after the shot.  He also throws up with high fever, but usually not too much, and he is able to keep his meds. down.  I totally agree that each kid is different and that you have to go with your gut, but my doc. always says when in doubt give the injection.
