My NonSW son had his tonsils and adenoids out when he was 3.  The surgeon worked in with the endo. and anaesthetist.  He was admitted the day before the surgery to ’prep’ him and had intravenous hydrocortisone during and after surgery.  To keep the stress level down, he was given a dose of morphine to reduce the pain nd had a special nurse to watch him for the first 6 hours of recovery.  Must have dealt with the pain s he refused the ice cream and insisted on toast...

He bounced back within just a few days and from that day on his health really improved.   No more hospital admissions except for a grommits insertion.  Our other son who doesn’ have CAH had his tonsils and adenoids out at the same age wth the same results - no more infections and a real growth spurt.
