CassyRisty,
Not that I have a CAH story but I did want to say that I understand your concern with your son being behind in his skills. I have twin girls who just turned 1, both who have CAH. It has been extremely hard for me not to compare the two of them through this first year. I have one who is very active, almost walking, babbling, etc while the other is more laid back, just starting to babble, doesn’t even crawl, etc.
I have addressed this with our ped at several times this year and he assures me that it is not CAH related, just that they are 2 different kids. He has also taught me to look at things that Carly (the lazier one) does that Kennedy does not. And when I started looking for these things, they do exist--she pat-a cakes, plays peek, etc. I know it is frustrating when your child isn’t doing what others their age are, but I am sure he will catch up in his own time.
Do you have something like a Parents as Teachers program at your school district? That really helps us as well. They come once a month and check the girls’ progress and teach us age appropriate activities to further their progress.
Not saying that it has nothing to do with CAH treatment, but I know this is a very common issue in many families, not only CAH families.
