SandraHi Risty,
I would agree with Rebecca that his lack of progress is not related to him being off of medication. The lack of medication would manifest itself the most in growth issues and of course in stress times with a possible adrenal crisis.
My son has SVCAH and is almost 2 1/2 and he crawled and walked (10 months) right on target with his little best friend who lives across the street (NON CAH). He spoke a little later than his friend but he was also learning Spanish at the same time. I do think that all kids are different and all develop at different times. It’s hard to not blame any type of difficulty on the CAH but I think you shouldn’t worry that his lack of medication for that relatively short time affected his development skills. I would just keep trying to work with him and just try to enjoy him as much as you can before his baby days are gone and he is a big boy! One more thing, I think your pediatrician can refer you to a program run by the state that helps children who are diagnosed as having slower developmental and speech skills. I’m not sure where you live but you may want to look into it.
