My two year old daughter was just diagnosed last weel with non-classical, non-salt wasting CAH. Her bone age is advanced and she hadan ACTH stim test. There was a red flag when she was born because her genitals were slightly swollen, but look completly normal now. We had one endo tell us to just watch her, bring her in every six months. I wanted more answeres so we got a second opinion, they did another ACTH stim test and aa bone age, and now she is on cortef. My confusion is , is when we were told she needed this med. they told me there would be no side effects at all. And as I am trying to learn every thing I can about this disease, I read alot about horrible side effects. My eight year old daughter is being tested in December. She has an advanced bone age and is showing some signs of puberty. I am so worried about my girls. Can any one tell me how common problems are while being treated with cortef? I wanted to have more children and now do not know if I should. Any advice would be much appreciated. Are children on cortef more fussy? Just wonderingkiely
