A few years ago, I was a very bad person and went off my CAH medications. I gradually got more and more pigmentation on my forearms and skin creases/scars. Just before I restarted steroids in 2001, my ACTH baseline level was 276 pmol/L (range 2 -11.4)  or 1250 pg/ml (range 10-52 approx).

My endo said it would normally take about two years for the pigmentation to all disappear; although for me, it is now more than two and a half  years since I restarted the medications and my forearm hyperpigmentation shows no sign of abating, however the knuckles were back to normal, soon after my levels were stabilised. I’m still waiting for the rest to fade!
