WolverineAlicia,
If I do "breed" I thought that I was the only one that used that term. As someone with CAH, I will most definitely have genetic testing done on ....I guess you would call him? My future stud ? to make sure that he doesn’t have the gene for any type of CAH. Because of medical knowledge, the metabolic condition of CAH could actually be phased out in my family line and others.
There is a 75% chance that carriers of any type of CAH gene aren’t going to have a child with CAH anyway. I’ve volunteered with people that have medical challenges and in the larger scope of life, having CAH is like hitting the lottery compared to other birth defects that may come down the pike. One in 100 people have Late Onset CAH and One in 14,00O have Classical CAH. Pretty much everyone in life is eventually going to have some sort of health complication to deal with and some of us just have it sooner than others. One advantage of CAH is that you can recommend a good Endocrinologist when your co-workers tell you about their thyroid conditions
Also, no matter what breeding (condom free) with someone with CAH would be out of the question but marriage and adopting kids would be great. I was a Social Worker and I worked with many children (with birth defects and not) that it would of been an honor to be a parent to.
Take Care,
Aimee
