MichelleHi. I’m wondering if there is anyone out there who can help me answer some questions about being pregnant with CAH?
I am 32, have had 21-hydroxylase, salt-wasting CAH since birth. I have always been regularly monitored by a good endocronologist, but moved to Atlanta and have not established care as of yet. In the meantime, I found out I am pregnant ( 7 weeks) and just met with a high-risk doctor for the pregnancy. This doctor said the pregnancy looks very good and we discussed my CAH in length. He said the Dexamethasone is usually started at 10 weeks, but decided to start me on it now. I am currently on 20mg. of Cortef and .01mg of Florinef. He said to eliminate both, which scared me, and start the Dexamethasone 4 times a day at .25mg. I like this doctor, but being that I am only about 1 in every 14,000 patients he’ll see, I just want to have peace of mind... Help.
