Not to get personal but what insurance do you carry?  I also had my daughters surgery done by Dr. Poppas and we lived in CT at the time.  We carried Anthem b/c b/s, century preferred.  We had to upgrade to the century preferred in order to have her surgery done out of state.  He was in Anthem’s network, but without the upgrade we would have not been able to use him.  Check and see if you are (or were) able to go out of state for a provider.  If so, then I don’t know what all the grief is about that they are giving you.  Fight mom, fight, I have done many a battle with the ins. companies and am still doing battle with them over one particular bill concerning her dates of service.  She had surgery over two years ago!  :)
