AnneMy daughter’s Medic Alert bracelet also says, in addition to what Danny has, "give glucose and saline."
On her Medic Alert record, the information part (the MA company would read that info to the paramedics or whoever is calling, as in during an ambulance trip), we put a line on there that states to the effect, "Do not give any anesthesia without consulting the endocrinologist, anesthesia can cause heart failure; caution in using an endotracheal tube, shock can occur." Also put on there about would need at least 3-4 times cortisone doses to handle certain invasive procedures, and info about the necessity of administering the injection before any invasive procedures.
My daughter’s twin died in 1999 (SWCAH), 12 days before the girls’ 4th birthday. She had a flu-like illness, and was not in good shape at all. But at the hospital, they gave her general anesthesia, then right after put in an endotracheal tube. Her heart failed nearly immediately after those two procedures, she also went into shock.
