I have a 14yo non cah daughter and she is assertive.   actually think it is a lot to do with the way they are educated these days.  I mean you only have to draw comparisons with us and them and you’ll instantly realise that they are encouraged far more to participate and be on an equal level where teachers are concerned these days and you’ll immediately realise it affects the way they turn out.  I dont know if it s bad thing or a good thing.  I hope it is for the good actually, because I have had a really difficult time with Chloe lately and nothing I seem to do is the right thing where she is concerned.

Had I been half as lippy, or cheeky or bold at school or at home I know i would have been on detention, caned and at home grounded for the best part of a week for the same stuff.  Problem is half the stuff you do is seen as unnacceptable in todays day and age.  She ran away from home two weeks ago and the parents whose house se ran off to where totally sucked in by her bs.  They were SO sucked in they never even let me know she was safe!  I had to ring the police and was notified at 7pm of her whereabouts.  When I went around to collect her she would not come home and they threatened to ring the police when I (quite rightly) put my foot down and stated she must come home now or I’ll have to take her whether she liked it or not.  In the end I had to treck around to the police station myself to have her uplifted---the kids and I were there until 11pm at night.  In the end the police had no sympathy for her.  In their own words:

"Respect your parents and elders, and you’ll be treated with respect.   Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time!  (I had grounded her for two weeks for her attitude and behaviour! and she didn’t like that so decided to rebel).  Behave and your won’t be grounded... I mean quite honestly the police where great.

These days though, you only have to shout at them in the wrong way and its verbal/mental abuse and ring Ester Rantzen on 0800 my-parent-is-nasty or whatever or ring the CYPS dept and report them etc etc.  lol!   I mean come on!

Next minute they are curled up on the settee what the Osbournes cuss at eachother in he same way and find it highly amusing, or throwing insults at their siblings.  :)
