SandraI just wanted to share that little Nolan Oscar was born December 8th at 9:21am after two hours or so of labor. For those of you that don’t know...this is my 4th boy and my 2 1/2 yr old and my newborn both have SVCAH. My newest one was diagnosed through CVS at 10 weeks pregnant. I was very nervous and scared. Luckily the delivery went great. The doctors and nurses at the hospital were wonderful with him. They did run his electrolytes and checked his blood sugar and other stuff regularly. The doc at the hospital felt comfortable discharging us at 48 hours since we already had his endocrine appt set up for the next morning. So, we were discharged on day 2 and on day 3 he had his first appt with the endo. Since they couldn’t get an IV in him for the stim test, they decided to use the newborn screen as the baseline and then they injected him with the ACTH and then drew the blood 60 min later. He was not happy being stuck so many times but he is a trooper. He cried so hard that he fell asleep while they were drawing his blood.
He started his cortef and florinef (just in case) and we are now waiting for the results. We know he has CAH but I really wanted a comparison to his brother. So far he is doing great. He was little jaundiced but is turning more pink every day!! I just wanted to share this little blessing with you all who were so much help in getting me through those early months the first time around!!!
Thanks,
Sandra
