I have a 6yr old daughter with salt wasting CAH and live in England. I have been told by her endo that i should only stress dose if she has a temp of 38 degrees centigrade or above( over 100f ) and that is the only time i should double her dose, not if she has a tantrum or gets over excited, not if she has a runny nose or cough. I think you need to be careful that you are not overdosing your child, it could lead to it.
Excitement is related to the fight of flight system which is part of the adrenal medulla, which has got nothing to do with CAH, it is the adrenal cortex which is faulty. I’m starting to feel really blessed that we have a very good doctor here in England, and i don’t have to pay for any treatment.
