AnonDanny, thanks so much for bringing that post from the archives. Only I’m afraid you didn’t exactly understand the question. As far as I can imagine that mother has no reason to know anything about the existence of this medical condition called CAH, only if her daughter has it. She and I don’t live in the same country and she is not aware that I have a child with it. The fact that she asked my sister-in-law shortly after giving birth to a newborn girl whether she is aware of a possibility that it would be hard to determine the sex of a newborn baby was suspicious to her. I really want to help her get started and be supportive if there is a reason for it, but what is interesting about this whole situation is the fact that my cousin, although a very emotional type, is not acting at all as if she has a baby with a medical condition. So what than could have made her ask this question? Is there anything else that would go in connection with CAH but is not the actual thing, like a possibility for a carrier to be born without symptoms but slightly virilized or maybe something else? What? I never asked her any questions, since it was supposed to be only ’as a matter of fact’ that she brought up this question to my sister-in-law. She should have forgotten it was ever asked right after replacing the receiver on the hook... only if she wouldn’t know of a actual case within the family, of course. I would want to find out, not because I’m trying to be nosy. I really want to be supportive if there is a need for it.
