Mary - What I found interesting (dont know ifyou know this or not) is that from being on steroids for years (and I am a late-onset person) my adrenals do not produce any cortisol any more. I had a Cortrosyn Stim Test several years ago and my cortisol didnt elevate at all - freaked my doctor out all right - she told me to immediately go home and get my medic alert bracelet on. Taking Dex for 20 years has put my adrenals to sleep (thats why I’ve been in crisis several times when not taking enough steroids and doing too much exercise). I have to stress dose when hiking, etc. I don’t make any cortisol - just like a saltwaster.
