WolverineDear Mary,
I agree with you also! What works for one person might not be best for another. One parent posted along time ago that her daughter’s Endo stated that the management of CAH was more like a "craft" for each individual patient. When I first moved to South Florida, this lady Endo asked me how I was dealing with the heat. I looked at her like she was nuts, I had no problem with the heat and I even drove a car w/ no air conditioning at the time. Then I find out that many people w/ CAH do have a terrible time with the heat ! CAH comes in different degrees and thats why it’s so interesting.
I don’t waste salt but my only cortisol also just comes from the little hydrocortisone tablet : ) I always take that into account when I’m dealing with a situation. I don’t know if you have this saying in the UK but in the States you might hear someone say to someone "I only have one nerve left and you are standing on it !" in the same vein I think to myself that I only have enough cortisol to go around from the tablet so I have to pick and choose what to be stressed about ;) I’m being goofy here because you can’t really pick and choose.
You mentioned in another post about an Endo that wouldn’t show you any test results. I’m glad that you finally got one that is willing to share with you excatly what is going on with your son. I used to have Endos and other doctors that wouldn’t share anything with me and that really caused a lot of distrust on my part. Now any doctor that I see lets me read the reports or gives my a copy or else they are fired. It’s that simple : ) I was kept in the dark for so very long about everything and that is something that is very wrong about the way CAH is managed.
Best Wishes,
Aimee
