re: Adrenal Crisis

hey Renee, I too was diagnosed with late onset CAH in my early teens.  I was put on 5 mg prednisone to start but over time it has risen to 10 mg.  I did not know anything about adrenal crisis either until last year.  I actually had an adrenal crisis at that time.  What happened was, I had forgotten to take my night pill until 6 am because I accidentally fell asleep.  I took it and then about 5-6 hours later I woke up to shower.  I had not eaten or drank anything at this point and in the shower, because of the steam and heat, it became difficult to breathe.  I started to shake and get very dizzy, my body temperature began dropping rapidly.  I got out of the shower and began walking and before I knew it I was passed out.  I was out for a few seconds I guess.  My boyfriend kept talking to me the whole time so that I wouldn’t lose consciousness completely.  I eventually was able to open my eyes and move again.  When we looked into it, it seemed like I had gone into a type of shock that occurs when blood isn’t circulating properly.  The body forces itself to pass out to get blood back to the brain.  Afterward I felt fine but I was confused about what had happened and why.  Later I learned that it had been a form of adrenal crisis.  However, I feel very lucky that it was as mild as it was.  I know I could have been far less fortunate.  This is just my experience with it though.  I am curious about any others out there that may be similar or different.
