survey on night time sweating
Jan. 5th, 2004   10:57pm

I know we have discussed this before but I would like to take a survey on night time sweating. My daughter has CAH due to 21 hydrox. and is a salt waster and is 6 and one half years old. I am wondering if this only happens to the salt wasters. EVERY night since I can remember, if I don’t make sure the covers are off her when she first goes to sleep, she sweats horribly. I keep her in a cotton shirt and pants pajama set. Nothing too warm. Even when she was an infant and toddler she could not tolerate those feet pajamas. But it seemed to only occur the first hour she falls asleep. Then I can cover her back up after that first hour and she remains at a normal sleep temp. I NEVER have the heat vent open at night in her room because she sleeps so much better when it is cool. But that first hour she is a puddle of SWEAT if I forget to uncover her right after she falls asleep. But if I keep her uncoverd, she remains warm but not sweaty. And it is not like I have any heavy blankets on her at all. ALSO, when she gets to that puddle of sweat stage, she wakes up and sits up in her bed. This is how I got to know this sweat problem. I would hear her wake up and go in to check on her. I think to myself now what a horrible sleeper she was as an infant. I wonder if she was too hot then. I remember recognizing this as a problem when she was a toddler. Maybe it was occurring when she was an infant and I didn’t realize it.

If anyone wants to input or do this survey, I ask that you type the type of CAH, age and sex of CAH patient. Thank you. I would like to take this info. to her endo. in Feb. I am also curious just how different the types of CAH can effect each patient. Thanks!
