CassyNo gastric reflux as babies and she has never really been one to spit up. She had a lot of trouble with vomiting when we started giving solids and now she gags a lot. Not just at meals, but at playtime as well. So, the doctor thought it might be reflux or stomach upset (maybe caused by the steroids, maybe not). She is also very small, just doesn’t gain weight well and the ped said that could be because her tunny is upset and she doesn’t want to eat. So, we are going to try the Zantac liquid for a while and see what happens.
We give Cortef and Florinef in the morning together and then just Cortef the other 2 times of the day. But it is really hard to get all the meds in and seperate them by 2 hours. She is taking the Zantac 3 times a day. Here has been the schedule today--1:30 AM--Zantac (she was up anyway), 8:15 Am--Zantac, 10:15 AM--Cortef and Florinef, 3:00 PM--Cortef, 5:00 PM--Zantac and still one dose of Cortef to go.
It made it easier today bc she was up in the night so I gave her the Zantac then, but I am not waking her up to do it. So, Tammy--you gave the Zantac with the Cortef?? Did it seem to alter the effect of the steroid?? I have a drug handbook and it doesn’t say anything about not mixing the 2 of them and the pharmacist said it wouldn’t, but the ped said it would. I’m a little confused!!
Thanks for the advice! More appreciated!
