Michelle REveryones cah is different. I have had surgeries and illnesses before and after being dxed. Not until recently have I ever doubled up or had solucortef during surgery or afterward. I think when I had my tubes done they did give me solucortef.
Anyway after being on steroids for almost 10 years....wow, time flies....if I don’t take me Dex I get very fatigued. I think that we are in more danger of a crisis once we stop taking it after longterm use, cause the adrenal glands have been retired for so long due to the meds that under trauma or severe stress (even like pulling a tooth) that they will not kick in like they are suppose to. When I weaned off Dex one time I even had surgery during that time then a few months later had my tooth pulled. That night I went back on Dex, I might have puked it back up, but at least it got me back on it. I did not have solu cortef at the time, now we have a few vials here. Which would have brought me back to life :o)
So we are lucky indeed, and yes it’s time to get serious....sooner or later luck runs out, or our angel blinks :o) Glad you found tis board. It will be a great source of information and support. It has been for me. By the way Sharon, my daughter has it too. She is almost 12 and was dxed at 10 because I requested testing. Take care...come back often :o)
