My daughter was diagnosed with acid reflux when she was around 12 yrs old, but for YEARS she had complained that she "thought she was going to throw up, but didn’t."  Unfortunately, I didn’t realize what was going on - I was just glad that she never vomitted and I did not have to worry about an adrenal crisis!  After much talk with the pediatric gastroenterologist we figure she must have had reflux as an infant.  We just called it "colic" and gave her something for that.
