Dexamethasone vs hydrocortone
Jan. 20th, 2004   10:02am
My daughter is currently 15 yrs old and has been taking hydrocortone twice a day for years for her CAH.  (When younger she took Cortef 3 times a day.)  She also takes Florinef once a day.  Recently the endo asked her if she would prefer taking Dexamethasone once a day.  She said the hydrocortone was working beautifully, but she thought that maybe Kristin would not want to be bothered to take meds twice and could just do it once instead (more of a convenience issue).  Long story short, we opted to stay on the hydrocortone.  Twice a day seems to mimic the body more closely than once a day.  Plus, she is doing great on the hydrocortone.  Anyone else opting not to switch to desamethasone?  What are the advantages/disadvantages of once a day medication?  Just curious.
