I’ve never seen the Controversies Board as a "closet" but just another "room" in the house. Any topic that would bring intense debate I prefer to be there, so as not to discourage those that dislike debates.

Personally, I like a good debate, and would like to see more people comment on subjects like these, but I have to weigh that against those that would stop using the board if they saw it riddled with heated arguments (heated in their eyes, maybe just intense in our eyes)

I understand everyone’s concerns that an important topic may be brushed aside, and so far the discussion hasn’t gotten anywhere near intense -- but -- there are strong feelings and disagreements about the right approach to dealing with feelings such as Alicia described. As long as you guys can discuss it calmly, I’ll allow it, but please keep in mind that lots of people read these boards, including some children.
