I’ve tried Dex and prednisone - at an endo visit last week I asked my doc about maybe changing to Cortef - he vetoed it (granted I’m an adult) He said that his patients are all on prednisone (Im the only one on Dex) - my reason for wanting to change was based on dizziness I’ve experienced for some time - I thought maybe it was the dex because it was always worse after taking a dose. My endo said the problem with chronic conditions is we tend to blame things on the condition even if they are not related and he feels I have an inner ear problem and wrote out a referral to an ear, nose and throat doc.

As far as the Dex working for me - its been great really (been on it since I was 19) - I am 5’2 and weigh 135 (the highest ever right now) but I’m also 44 and I believe we put on weight as we age. I was at 120 for a long time. For me I took it at night for years - and that just seemed to get me a lot of reflux/stomach problems and I was tired by 4pm. I’ve been taking it in the morning for probably 3 or 4 years now - and this works the best  - I have energy for the whole day and sleep well at night (though I do have to say - I tend to not be dead tired at the end of the day and want to stay up later because I still have energy)

For me taking the prednisone didnt work -  my joints ached and I felt suicidal. Dex doesnt give me any weird feelings unless I’m on too much of it.
