I feel your pain Tonya.  If all else fails perhaps you can do what we did.  We took the blanket (for us it was a scarf and he called it a Me-me) and cut it in half.  Since it is the smell and texture that the article holds which is familiar to them - the size may not matter.  After several years of tough loving, the Me-me is nothing more than the size of a handkerchief - but it still does the trick!
