Hydrocortisone in suppositories
Jan. 26th, 2004   3:36pm

I was in contact with CARES foundation this morning in regards to trying to obtain Solucortef actovial (our local pharmacies were out as well as their warehouses) and the possibility of using hc suppositories in times of emergency came up.  Kelly mentioned that they are quite widely used in Europe and beginning to be used in the US.  I spoke with our endo about them and he said that he was not familiar with the results/absorption rate etc. . .I am curious if anyone else has had experience with these in emergency situation or know of a website that I may obtain any more information.  Thanks!

(Oh, I was finally able to obtain our injections through a pharmacy locally that dealt almost solely with the oncology dept at our local hospital, they use solucortef to lessen the nauseating effects of chemotherapy)
