I’m in Georgia and have looked a bit into getting medicaid. To finacially qualify, a household of three has to be making less than $42K/yr. If your income exceeds this requirement, your child can still apply for Medicaid with something called a deeming waiver (also called a Katie Beckett waiver). However, I dont believe most children with CAH can qualify for the deeming waiver- I’m still looking into it and it seems that it deals with children with severe disablilities (we’re talking institutions here)

Here’s a couple of links I’ve found helpful:

http://www.mcg.edu/Resources/MH/sourcebk/sect5.html#ssi

It’s on a mental health website, but it has the finacial requirements to qualify for SSI in GA

http://best.ssa.gov/

A handy tool for finding out what SSA programs one can qualify for.

http://www.ssa.gov/disability/professionals/bluebook/109.00-Endocrine-Childhood.htm

This is the GA "blue book" of chronic conditions that can qualify for SSI. I’ve gone ahead and linked you directly into the endocrine disorders section. I’m not sure if CAH would be coded as 109.7 or 109.11- but at least it’s in there.

Hope that this helps- please feel free to email me if you have any questions!

And, April, I have a 9 month old SWCAH daughter. We live in Lawrenceville, up 85 just north of Atlanta. I’d love to meet other CAH parents in Atlanta. Email me if you’d like!
