Control during adolescence

Good point, Danny.  According to the following article, control can be more difficult during adolescence (what isn’t?!).

Margaret - Our endo explained to me that high 17-OHPs cause even higher 17-OHPs, so it’s not unusual for a child that needs a slight meds increase to have a seemingly wildly out of control 17-OHP result.  We’ve seen this in my girls several times.  We stomp (double meds) for a few days, then go back to a slightly higher daily dose.  A generally well controlled CAH patient shouldn’t need a sudden major increase unless something else is going on.

If your child is having long term control problems, then it’s time to get serious about testing and a revised meds schedule.  Good luck.
