My daughter was on the 2.5 mg 3X a day dose also, and in fact is still on that dose now at 10 months. She also began to look a little cushy. I was concerned with her dose, but her levels were fine. She has now slimmed up on her own and her height has increased in the last couple of months putting her right where she needs to be. I also noticed little peach fuzz around her genitals when she was around 6 months old, but her endo said it was nothing to be concerned with, that it was only peach fuzz.  It has since lightened up, and it is barely noticable. Always check with your endo, ask for another test just to be sure, but I wanted to let you know about my experience.
